The truck came yesterday and picked up our old appliances, Paigey's exersaucer and highchair. My eyes did well up with tears as I saw the baby things get loaded up. At least we still have the crib and you can bet that Pumpkin will sleep in it until she is 18.

Aye, Aye Captain!

This morning I got the girls all dressed before Macy went to school in hopes of knocking out the dreaded Christmas card pic. A battle every year, not usually with the kids so much but between dear hubby and me.
It was going fairly good until I realized Macy was wearing only one earring. (She brought it to me first thing this am ~ it had come off somewhere between bedtime and 7am). I remembered it after we were WELL into taking pics. I attempted to quickly take the other one off but Macy started squealing so I hurriedly put the other one in. Dear husband called me insane saying no one would notice such a thing in the picture.
I beg to differ. Women notice details. You better believe that if you send me a Christmas card pic, that I'm studying it. I'm nosey like that.
So, this picture didn't make the cut. Because we are not pirates.
The picture I DID choose, we'll it's not the best. It's very cute but if you study it ladies, you'll notice Pumpkin with wet boogies coming out of one nostril. Gregg swears no one will notice and hopefully he's right.
And by the way, Macy's new saying for "yes, ma'am" has been "aye, aye Captain!" (with a salute thrown in for good measure)
apparently I'm blind, fat, and rude
This occurred while we were walking through a store at the mall tonight:
Macy: Mama, yooouuuu didn't use your manners.
Me: What do you mean?
Macy: Because you bumped into that lady with your big bottom.
I have no idea what she was talking about ~ no lady in sight.

Q is for quick
Macy has to bring a show-n-tell each Thursday representing whatever letter they are working on. This week is Q so she said she is going to bring her legs. Because they are quick. And she already has them.
Works for me. One less thing I have to pack in her schoolbag!

can't say I blame her
I found Macy checking out her bare booty in my long mirror this morning. I asked her what she was doing. She informed me that she had an itch that wasn't from her panties...
Check it out then. I'm just sayin'...

How Many Licks Did It Take?

Macy was so proud to show me how straight and pretty her Barbie's hair was. She said she washed it and brushed B's hair herself. I felt B's hair and it was indeed damp. I don't know what possessed me to smell it but blech! It had the lick smell - you know the one.
I asked Macy if she indeed licked the B's hair to clean it. She confirmed the answer. I told her that she is not an animal that licks things clean. We talked about how Bo licks and I asked her if she wanted Bo to start cleaning her instead of her taking a bath. No! That's dig-usting!
Yes, it is. Nasty, in fact. My question is...how many licks DID it take?
PS... This morning I dropped the girls at the KidsKlub at the gym and was giving last kisses and hugs. Then Macy impulsively leaned over and licked Paigey's Pebble's Flinstone little ponytail like a Popsicle. Her little pony then proceeded to stick out like straight to the side an arrow shooting out of her head!
What is with this child????

Camper Bo
Before lunch the other day, I overheard Macy telling Bo that they were going camping. I don't know how Macy even knows what camping is all about. Not like we've ever been before and it is not likely that we'll ever go. We are not out-doorsy, campy people. We like the A/C, electricity (Hello! I need my chi!) and a comfy bed. I could think of 1million things I'd rather do.
Well, we ate lunch and were reading books before nap and I heard a clink, clink, clink on the tile. And Bo sat up and I saw the binoculars around his neck. Poor doggy had them around his neck for a good half an hour! I ran to get the camera...
This is also really humorous because Bo is not outdoorsy either. He is a rotten house dog - afraid of the vacuum and won't go near the girl's plastic pool when it has water in it. And he'll "hold it" all day if it is raining outside....
Camper Bo...I laugh at the thought!

Flashback Friday
We are off to the zoo this morning and I'm flashing back to the 1st time Macy went to the zoo...
two weeks before Paige was born
Gregg wanted to take Macy to do something special for "Daddy Day" before Paige was to be born. So he took her to the zoo and to Whataburger (his fav) for lunch. I think he dressed her and did her hair...

How Do You THINK It Went...

...trying to get a 21mth old to pose???!!! Click on the picture so you can get the full effect and see the look on Macy's face ~ priceless. In the ONE pic we got of the two girls together (where Paigey isn't screaming or running away), Paigey has her mouth full of goldfish crackers and was in "mid-chew". Good times...

But the main goal was to go to get one of these...

I didn't expect to leave with...

and this...

Mission accomplished...

Obey
We just put Macy to bed. As she was crawling into her sheets, she randomly states that God wants us to obey. We discussed what obey means and how it makes God sad when one doesn't obey.
I guess she understood because she went onto pray:
God, please help Mommy obey.
Amen.

Cemetery Smack
When we were in Georgetown, we went to the cemetery to visit my dad's grave. It is unsettling to go there. He is buried in a teeny, country cemetery in Andice (like pop. 2), right outside of Georgetown. His plot is way out in a field by itself and it seems like he's just been left there by himself. It is really hard to stomach my mother's name on the monument w/"Our love lives on" in a heart in the middle of the names...
The grass still hasn't grown over the plot and there is still the gravel on top. I felt if I put my palm on the gravel, I could feel closer to him somehow b/c he was below it. I even sized Gregg up and down (because he is 6ft) and thought that is how far down he is. I know, I have issues.
So, we had Macy say a prayer for her Papaw.
She said:
Thank you for Jesus.
Thank you for God.
Thank you for my Papaw.
Thank you for the wind that cools us down. (it was very windy that day)
Amen.
Very nice.
Then Gregg was going to load the girls up and let me have "a moment". Macy did her knee buckling, fall-to-the-ground, went limp and whined that she wanted to stay with me. I told her that her Papaw would spank her bottom for acting like that. Gregg started walking her to the truck and she informed us that Papaw's hand wouldn't reach her bottom from heaven. Her daddy quickly told her that is right, but his would.
4 year old smack at the cemetery....I've been cracking up about it ever since.

Interruption
This blog will be interrupted tonight by the CMAs. I may not get to listen to the radio very often b/c kiddie movies are always playing in the car. I don't own an ipod or care to. But, every fall when the CMAs are on, I am glued to the tv. It was something that I always enjoyed doing with my dad growing up. We'd watch it together every year and I'd get to stay up late past bedtime to watch it. When I went to college, we always talked on the phone about it at some point of the broadcast. But, gracious ~ this music is nothing compared to the music in heaven! I'm back to the couch with a smile on my face...

4 Years Too Soon
We went to Georgetown two weekends ago and spent the night at my mother's. It is the first time in four years that I've spent the night at her house. You see, we used to live in Temple which is only 45min away from there. The three years we lived there, there was no need to spend the night ~ I could just drive on home. We moved to Arlington a year ago and still haven't felt the need to go see her. (We've seen her~ oh, have we've seen her ~ but hadn't gone to her house).
This is the deal: (There are many deals were she is concerned, but we'll focus on this one for now)...I could care less about her new house with her 3rd husband.
How did she get three husbands??
Lets see...
1. She married my abusive, violent, alcoholic, biological father and had my sister and me. Susan and I are 6yrs apart and they divorced when I was two. My father was found dead in his trailer two years ago (oh... another post...).
2. She married Ray, my father's best friend, when I was three. He raised us along with his sons, Jay, Michael and Brian (the boys lived w/their mom ~ Brian lived w/us in high school). They were married 24yrs until he passed away at 59 (after being in a nursing home for 8mths) in 2004. Ray was the only father I ever knew and was in every way, "my dad".
3. 6mths after my dad died, she met Earnie in grief counseling. His wife had died two weeks before and they've been together ever since. Can you say, co-dependent??? They secretly married six months later and then told us two months after that. I was living 45min from her and had NO IDEA she had been married for two months. Well, nor did she know I was pregnant w/Paige ~ that's what happens when we don't speak for months at a time...
When my dad was dying she busied herself with building a new home for herself. She lived there all of two years before she and Earnie moved into their new house together.
See...two houses + new husband in two years = no interest!
My brother, Brian, his wife Jen, his baby Caitlin (14mths) were moving to SA and flew in to stay at my mom's for a couple of days until they moved into their new house. That is the only reason we made the trip to Georgetown. Brian and family were the buffer! I'm working on my boundaries where my mom is concerned and the less I'm around her, the better. So, it was one night with three little ones, 6 adults and a dog running around. But, when it was time to leave, I couldn't get out fast enough...
I have to say...4 years too soon...
It is what it is...
Now for some pics:

So It's Official
Paige has the chickenpox. The dr said it was a mild form and and gave it some viral name. You wouldn't know it by the way she happily ran around the ped's office during the 1.5hrs we were there. You wouldn't know it by the way she was trying to jump on the couch and climb on the end table tonight. You sure wouldn't know it by the way she was standing on the hearth watching Dancing With the Stars and yelling "9"!
In the midst of this, husband looks at me and says, "it's official ~ we're parents ~ we've got a kid with the chickenpox."
???? I don't have a response for that one, honey...Last I checked, my body and mind has been "official" for 5yrs now...

Because She's Big
Because she's big, she can eat her snack at the table.
Because she's big, she can sing her own version of "Happy Birthday"
at Meme's birthday party (and cheer for herself) in front of 75+people.
Because she's big, she can wear her big sister's hand-me-down overalls and say "cheese" on cue.
Because she's big, she can spot the "Rella" doll at the Disney Store.
Because she's big, she can hold still while I humor myself by putting the "Rella" wig on her.
Because she's big, she can sit still for a trim.
Because she's big, she can be big.
Paige Elizabeth is growing up so much faster than Macy ever did. At 20 months, Macy did not own markers, dress up stuff, games, play food, Barbies, ....Therefore, we were able to keep her a baby longer. But, Paige thinks she's 4 like her sister and therefore, she copycats every move and sound that Macy makes . So, my baby ~ my almost 2year old, thinks she's big. And she is
.
**Because this blog is jacked, I can't line up the text. Because I'm somewhat obsessive (not in general but anything pertaining to my daughters), I've spent well over an hr trying to fix it. Because we are all dizzy now from reading this post, it's time to go to bed. Because of the time change, the children will be up with the chickens. **
Bear with my maddness, it is what it is...

Flashback Friday
You may have noticed that Paige's nickname is "Pumpkin". Since Halloween of last year, that is consistently what we have called her. It all started with this adorable pumpkin costume (thanks Nicole!). As you know, we Glover's are known for making up songs (remember the songs for the dog and Gregg's "rubbie" song??). I made up a pumpkin song for Paige that day (I'll spare you...) and since then she has been Pumpkin this, Pumpkin that. Macy will even say, "come here, Baby Pumpkin." So, there you have it...that is why we call her Pumpkin Paigey.
As for Macy, her nickname is generally "Roo". It started out as Macy Roo but the more you get to know her, you'll realize that "Roo" just fits her. As well as monkey and crazy nut...

Boots
The girls playing ring around the rosey (not the dosey-doe as the pic would imply)~these boots were bought to be more hip than country. Though Macy looks pretty countrified w/her pigtails...
This is what Paige put together when I told her it was time to go get Macy from school. She now often grabs a purse, necklace and/or bracelet as we are walking out the door. (girly-girls around here ~ love it!)
Paigey found her "boooots" after dinner
that night and put them on herself.
C'mon, don't you think I already got my $$'s worth???
