Flashback Friday

Thanksgiving 2006

Gregg, Macy and Paige are without a doubt are what I am most thankful for this year.

We have been so blessed this year! As Christians, you are taught to believe that God is always at work in us. But this year, God's handprints have been so apparent. It has been powerful.

And I am so thankful.

Time with my children
Healthy family
Answered prayers
New church
Knowing wonderful people
Forgiving my mom
Unconditional love of my Savior
Lubbock

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. Psalm 92:1

she may be onto something

The girl's toilet has been running on and off for weeks.

The other night Gregg bought some new parts for it. And two little girls were right up in the middle of the installation.

And then I caught this little monkey doing this. (you've got to click to enlarge this picture to get the full effect)

Her skin has never looked better. I guess toilet water works!

we need a roadtrip to the Land of Enchantment

Macy has been learning about the Pilgrims and Indians this week. She had been sharing all kinds of tidbits with us.

The other day...
Macy: Daddy, the black birds they come here because the Indians tried to kill them. So they fly away. The Indians killed bears too.
Gregg: Macy, where did you learn that?
M: I learned it from Mrs. Hendrix. Mrs. Hendrix is very smart about Indians.

...This morning while I was doing her hair, she told me that she wants to be Pilgrim next Halloween.

...Tonight at dinner she prayed:

Thank you for my family.
Thank you for everything.
Thank you for the Indians.
Thank you for the Pilgrims.
Thank you for the Indian staying alive from the white man.
Amen.

New Mexico is only like 4hrs away and Meme has a cabin in Ruidoso. I'm thinking my girl needs to see that more than one Indian survived the white man!

Warren Sapp was not the one holding my attention

While watching Dancing With The Stars on Monday night, Macy said,

Look (pause) at those (pause) muscles.

don't kiss the baby

The girls go to church on Sunday nights for childcare while we have Life House. When I went to pick them up, I was told this story by one of the teachers...

We had Paige wrapped up in a blanket and she was pretending to be a baby. A little boy leaned over to kiss her and Macy got all upset and said, "you can't kiss her! Your are NOT in our family!"

and sadly, I didn't make a pie

Last month we were looking for something fall to do as a family. And there are no nice pumpkin patches around here like the one we were accustomed to back in the big city. But I kept hearing about a local apple orchard and we went to check it out.

A nice lady from the kitchen staff was kind enough to take a family pic.
Such a tender moment of a mother and her two girls - the little one checking out her boogie.
I digress.
The girls were given a bucket to push through the orchard and put their apples in.
I took probably 57 pictures alone of just Paigey and her bucket. She was very serious about her bucket-pushing. Until she actually found an apple to eat, then I took another 57 pics of her chomping her apple.
And while Paige was occupied with her apple, I sat them down to take some more pics. Gregg was grumbling and I kept reminding him, if we get a good one it'll be our Christmas card pic.
So work with me so we won't have to put the kids in front of the tree again this year.
Oh, I kid.
You know I'll be having their pic under the tree but it is not going to be the Christmas card this year. And if you are on my mailing list, you'll be seeing Paigey and her apple again.
And you can guarantee I was on Sams.com tonight just one click away from ordering my Christmas cards.
And the girls did find some lovely pumpkins to sit by! Nothing says pumpkin patch like a chain-link fence and an RV in the background.
So, here's our loot. The apples were teeny but we sure ate off of them all week. Macy took three to her teacher the next day, because Mrs. Hendrix has three people in her family.
I made sure that she got the prettiest ones and not the ones that had Paigey's teeth marks.
***I just posted this and went to check my blogs, and Mrs. Hendrix had posted that she is pregnant!! Whoo hoo! I have been praying for her to get pregnant with this much anticipated baby! Thank you Jesus for answered prayers! And Hollie, I'm so glad Macy gave your baby something healthy to eat! :-)**

Crazy Hair Day(s)

A couple of weeks ago, Macy's school had "Crazy Hair Day". If they brought a $1 to school (which went to some sort of fundraiser), then they could wear their hair crazy.

I asked Macy what she wanted to do with her hair and she said I just wear it how it is when I wake up.

And sadly, it was tame that morning.

This girl would be the perfect teenager of the '60's. Check out that volume!

And before I knew it, it was Crazy Hair Day again! It was free at school because it was one of the activities of Red Ribbon Week.

But this time Macy wanted her hair spray painted. So I was off to the party store for hair paint.
And the only two colors left marked down from Halloween was purple and black.

Um, purple!
And I'm glad that Gregg was home to fix her hair that morning.

And she chose her shirt on purpose.

She told me I just wear my purple shirt and my khaki pants. The shirt is the same color as my hair.

I wish everyone could've touched Macy's hair that day.

It felt like a Brillo pad.

Bless her heart.

his bedside manner was questionable

I had another crazy experience with a Lubbock dr a couple of weeks ago. I get an annual cough at the end of every October and I finally went to get some meds at a walk-in clinic.

One perk of living in this town is there are cute college boys everywhere. But the novelty goes out the window when said cute college boy takes your weight and stats.

Not cool.

And then you are reminded how much his still a boy when he tries to make a basket with your thermometer cover. And scores and cheers himself.

But then I recalled how Gregg does the same thing with Paige's diapers. And that is why I find wet diapers under the kitchen table and a few feet away from all of the trashcans in our home.

I digress.

So, when the dr came in, the 1st thing out of his mouth was so you've had a hysterectomy??

For crying out loud. What???

He told me that there wasn't a LMP (last menstrual period) written down on my chart. And he became all in a tizzy because college boy didn't ask about my, you know, cycle.

And thank goodness for that. Because I would have died.

Then he asked me when it was and I was blank. Not something I can say that I keep up with anymore. So I threw at date at him and he was none the wiser.

So, then after we discussed what meds he would prescribe me, I asked him for a refill of my happy pills. He didn't want to prescribe me any because he said I would need to make an appointment just for that because if you are suicidal we need documentation.

Seriously.

I'm not suicidal thank you very much.

I.just.need.some.refills.on.my.happy.pills.for.my.generally.bitchy.even.on.a.good.day.self.

Yes, I got some refills. Of 30mg of Lexapro.

It is what it is.

I'm thinking she was the only one with a mortarboard

Friday was red and black day at Macy's school (go Tech!). Check!
It was Walk for Diabetes Day during PE (tennis shoes). Check!
And it was hat and sunglasses day for the end of Red Ribbon Week. Check!

As for the hat, Macy went to her hat dress-up drawer and choose her Pre-K graulation hat.

Because it was red.

Some days I just want to bottle up her innocence!
