over 200 posts!

For my 200th post, I looked on other blogs for ideas. I found this "I'd be" meme so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I started it days ago and of course, over analyzed it. I wasn't sure if I should answer it how I really see myself literally or how I'd like to be seen ideally.

So, take it for what it is.

I'd be...
~If I were a direction, I’d be South. (I'm a Southern girl)
~If I were furniture, I’d be a bed. (sleep)
~If I were a liquid, I’d be Dr. Pepper. (a very cold one)
~If I were a sin, I’d be jealousy. (I admit it)
~If I were a gem/stone, I’d be a diamond. (my favorite!)
~If I were a metal, I’d be gold. (I'm a gold girl)
~If I were a tree, I’d be a magnolia. (I've always wanted a magnolia tree)
~If I were a fruit, I’d be an apple. (not my favorite fruit but I see myself as an apple ~bright and shiny on the outside, either mushy, tart, sweet or bruised
on the inside)
~If I were a flower, I’d be a zinnia. (bright, bold flower~love to cut them and put them in vases)
~If I were weather, I’d be a cool breeze. (not enough to mess up the hair though!)
~If I were a music instrument, I’d be a drum. (I've never played an instrument)
~If I were a color, I’d be red. (love red!)
~If I were an animal, I’d be a dog. (I'd love to sleep all day and have someone scratch my head)
~If I were a sound, I'd be laughter. (laughing at my kids)
~If I were a song, I’d be Jesus Take The Wheel. (I have to say this so often!)

~If I were a music type, I'd be country. (Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban...but I really listen to everything)
~If I were a perfume/cologne, I’d be Ralph Lauren Romance. (my favorite perfume but I was an Eternity girl for years)
~If I were a feeling, I’d be hopeful. (I'm so hopeful that Gregg and I will "right the wrongs" of his dad and my mom with our own children)
~If I were a book, I'd be The Bible. (because I need to open it more often)

~If I were food, I’d be pizza. (yum)
~If I were a city, I’d be San Antonio. (would love to live there again ~ Macy and I were born there, Gregg and I honeymooned there and bought our 1st home, friendly town with lots of good food and places to go)
~If I were a taste, I’d be chocolate. (milk chocolate although my personality can be bittersweet!)
~If I were a scent, I’d be a baby. (my babies)
~If I were a word, I'd be friend. (you can never have too many)

~If I were a verb, I’d be thankful. (we are blessed)
~If I were an adjective, I'd be sassy. (it is what it is)
~If I were an object, I’d be a wedding ring. (I always check out people's rings)
~If I were a piece of clothing, I’d be flip flops. (they always fit!)
~If I were a body part, I’d be eyes. (I love the eyes of my children and hubby)
~If I were an facial expression, I’d be a smirk. (I'm usually plotting something)
~If I were a movie, I’d be Steel Magnolias. (what's not to love about Shelby and the gang?)
~If I were a geometrical figure, I’d be a circle. (don't know why)
~If I were one of the 4 seasons, I’d be summer. (just not 100% humidity)
~If I were a sentence, I’d be a run on. (not only do I write in run-ons, I talk that way too!)
And for fun...
~If I were a pop star, I'd be Gwen Stefani. (she's just cool)
~If I were an actress, I'd be Ashley Judd. (she is beautiful and a terrific actress)
~If I were a talk show host, I'd be Nancy Grace. (she's a hoot)
~If I were a supermodel, I'd be Heidi Klum. (she seems normal)
~If I were a country singer, I'd be Martina McBride. (that chick can sing and she's gorgeous)
~If I were a store, I'd be Target!
(you know it!)

he planned a date

After a lovely trip to Target with the girls, I came home Friday night to this...

My birthday was Sunday and Gregg had called Lindsey to arrange for her to watch the kids. Then he printed out various restaurant menus from around town for me to choose where I wanted to go. I chose Harrigan's because it is a local place that sounded un-kid-friendly that I wanted to try.

Birthdays ~ don't have to be big but I love initiative!

...Gotta love free in-law babysitting. But how awesome is this? Lindsey was "paying it forward" to us with her time and I got to pay it forward right back to her. Our church is doing an "At the Movies" sermon series (complete with candy, popcorn and caffiene). Every week through this series, red tickets are passed out as you enter the building. At the end of the sermon, two ticket #'s are called and the winner gets a $25 gift card to the movies. Gregg and I had already decided when the sermon series started that if we ever won, we'd give it to Lindsey and Derek. Because engaged, college people need it more than us...

Would you believe that on Sunday, I won! So, Lindsey gave me a date and I gave her one! Tell me that is not an accident! And while I'm on the topic, I can't begin to tell our blessings since we have been faithfully tithing from EVERY windfall, paycheck etc... God is so faithful!

thank goodness for public school

There are many reasons I am not one to be on the home school bandwagon. If I did, Macy would be still illiterate by the age of 18. And with her aspirations of being a cheerleader and a veternarian when she grows up, she is clearly in the wrong household for that training.

I've had 5+ years with her as my side-kick, my protege, my shadow, my mini-me.

She's through with what I have to offer. On Sunday night she told Gregg that she was ready for kindergarten because she was "boring" at home.

I got teary on Thursday night at Meet the Teacher night at her school. But yesterday, I was fine because she is ready to move onto greener pastures.

Good thing bandages are cool in kindergarten...because Macy has a big one.

This is Mrs. Hendrix ~ Macy's very pretty and tall teacher. Macy made sure to thank God for her (and her new class) at dinner last night and at bedtime.

I helped her find her locker, her chair and told her to put on her name tag. The dear, sweet child next to her informed me that it was a "necklace not a name tag".

Thank you sweetheart. And what is your name?

Macy was clearly ready for me take my camera and go on with myself.

Today Gregg took her to school and she left him at the door without even a hug. She told me this afternoon that she was too busy to hug him.

It's already starting ~ we are boring, she is way too busy and getting very independent.

At this point, I may never potty train Paige just so I'll be needed!

the baby ate every three hours and so did we

Oh my gosh, we all took a break from eating to sleep at night! Melinda and McKenzy stayed the week with us last week and I made it a mission to cook and bake. Really I just wanted to bake because I hadn't had much of a chance to bake all summer! Here is a list of the some of the food we consumed last week. I don't even want to think of all of the bread, eggs, cheese and butter I ate...

~ pizza (twice)
~ hamburger quiche
~ poppy seed chicken
~ lasagna
~ spinach artichoke dip
~ mini pigs-n-a-blanket
~ cinnamon rolls
~ breakfast casserole
~ banana bread
~ apple pie
~ chocolate sheet cake
~ chocolate chip cookies

Yum...

Melinda got a bit of a break with feeding the baby. Macy made it her mission to give McKenzy every bottle that she could.
there is a baby under all of that help

I don't know what was going on here but this picture cracks me up.

The girls loved helping Melinda clean bottles and giving the baby a bath.

And playing with baby cousin...

McKenzy was sitting like a big girl, Paige was sitting like a baby, and Bo was sitting like a statue.

Paige got into McKenzy's pack-n-play several times and pretended to be the baby. One time McKenzy was asleep in it when Paigey climbed in!

The girls loved all of the time they got to spend with their Aunt Melinda.

(Paigey was pretending to be asleep)

Gregg and I were glad to have a baby in the house again (but more glad to be the aunt and uncle than the baby's mommy and daddy ~ babies are alot of work!)

And of course there was countless hours of Olympics watching.
it even made Bo tired

One of my favorite moments of the week was when Macy asked Melinda, "Why her feet so swollen? Why her cheeks so puffy?"
My child is nothing if articulate.

And another of my favorite moments was when I got to go to Amarillo with my two dear SIL's and niece to go wedding/bridesmaids dress shopping. Without my own children! On a two hour road trip!

I don't envy Melinda for traveling alone with a small child across the country. But Christmas is around the corner and they'll be back with my favorite BIL in tow!

clearly I've been led to the right church

Last week our hip, young pastor had this tshirt on for Sunday morning church. Not this shirt exactly, but his was green and made by Fossil.

Because yes I did ask him about it.

the mister, mud, a monkey, and mulch

It's no secret that Gregg loves a pretty yard. Within the 1st week, he was already landscaping and mulching. There was a corner of the yard with more mud than grass, so Gregg decided to mulch it and put the kid's picnic table there. After that he moved onto the front yard to trim the hedges.

I'm mean, really, HOW long did ya think it'd take him to start on the yard??

When I went to Amarillo the other day, it was "Daddy Day" and he and the girls put together the playhouse (in the background) and mulched around that area.

It is really killing him that the front flower beds are done yet and that he hasn't thrown in grass seed to make the lawn "like a golf course".

It's how he rolls.

sweet cousins

We took the girls today to have their picture made together. This picture pretty much sums up our week so far and shows the girl's personalities.

~Macy being a mother hen to McKenzy.

~McKenzy not being mobile or sitting up yet leaving her pretty compliant.

~And Paige...being 2! She was not happy until she was in the rocking chair.

Tomorrow we are off to shop for wedding/bridesmaid dresses for SIL Lindsey's wedding!

maybe I should start wearing my camera around my neck

I am always running through the house hunting down my camera b/c one of my kids is doing something that cracks me up. This particular day Paigey was walking all around with a ball between her legs...

BTW, I am so behind on editing my pictures of the past two months. I have several blogs that I need to go back think of what I want to write to go with them. And I haven't been doing well in having complete thoughts lately.

And if there are multiple pictures that might need to be organized in some form or fashion, then I haven't had the attention span.

Period.

I've been a bit preoccupied and distracted the past few weeks. Who am I kidding? All summer!

Stay tuned as I attempt to come out of the madness.
