Flashback Friday

Sept. 2007

Macy took the Wiggles song, "Rolling Down A Sand Dune" literally when we were in S.Padre last Sept.

Rolling down a sand dune,
rolling down a sand dune,
Oooh, aaah, oooh, aaah...
(I don't know the rest of the song)

We leave in the morning for the 10hr trek to "the Island" and Macy is already talking about rolling the dunes again! Gregg is off for the next nine days so I'll be taking a blog-ity break.

Vaya con dios!

maybe in the summer of 69, he still had all of his teeth

We sure enjoyed the American Idol finale the other night ~ whoot, David Cook!

I was all excited when Bryan Adams came out and sang.

Me: Oh my gosh, look how old he looks!
Macy: And, he lost a toof!!!

and I'm thankful that my kids get fed chips and cake

When the weather is warm, our home group sometimes meets at a park on Sunday nights. On the way, on this particular night, we picked up Firehouse Subs to bring to eat. While I ran in to get the sandwiches, Gregg asked the girls to make silly faces. Macy chose to pull at her eyeballs which is well, gross.

Here's Paige. Guess we didn't notice she got into the markers before we left...

At the park, Charles brought out his Cadillac of a camera which makes everyone else's cameras look like Ford Pintos. That's ok with me, because then Charles will email me pics that look like this...

And this...

This is Caleb with Paigey. She was putting Sun Chips in the cup holder for him to eat. The girl was in control that night.

The funny thing is these weren't our Sun Chips, nor our tiger print chair set. Although, my heart skipped a beat when I saw our friends set them out. I love me a good animal print (and Sun Chips for that matter).

You see, Paige is cute. And a mooch. She rarely eats her own food ever at home group. She walks around a bums food off of everyone. And they give it to her.

At one point, I found her doing this...

At this table, I know she bummed about 20 strawberries, some iced tea and if I was guessing, some fried chicken.

Later, the kids were off playing and I walked up to see this. They had made Macy a sand "birthday cake" with "candles". And then they sang "Happy Birthday" to her. It was really such a sweet moment which made me want to go hug and kiss each one of their dirty, little faces.

14 kids ages 6 and under (and a baby girl on the way), 4 teenagers, and 8 couples...living life, praying for each other and counting our blessings. And our blessings are abundant.

she had the best of both worlds

This is what Macy wore to school the other day. Her favorite Hannah Montana shirt, her hair in "doggy tails", and her "Hannah Montana" boots. My intention was for her to wear her Nike's but she ran out with the boots because "they match, Mama!"

I can't argue with that. The girl is only five once (actually 365 times) and she was having in her little mind ~ the best of both worlds ~ being Macy and Hannah Montana at the same time.

And really, isn't life what you make it??

if it was pink, would it still be dog hair??

This morning, I was fixing Paigey's hair while Macy was putting on her sandals.

Macy: There is some dog hair in my shoe.
(I glanced up and saw her holding some white string)
Me: Macy, that is white. (Bo is black)
Macy: No, from a dog of a different color.
Me: That's string, silly! Like string from your clothes!
Macy: Are you going to blog that?

the birthday a la Macy

Whoa! I'm a bit overwhelmed. I haven't posted since Wednesday. Macy's actual birthday was Thursday and I just downloaded 111 pictures from the past week ~ her birthday party at ASI gymnastics last Saturday and her actual birthday on Thursday.

Sat. the 17th &Thurs. the 22nd

I need to post and get it all out there so I can get some closure on this birthday that has been going on all week. Today, Macy asked if we could go outside to see if she got a package. With family from all over, it's a package a day around here come February (for Paige's birthday), May (for Macy's birthday), and December (for Jesus' birthday or more like, "the wise men gave gifts to Jesus, that is why we give gifts to each other"
= lots of gifts for the children)

Clearly, the par-tay needs to end.

But with 111 pictures of Macy's curls and Pumpkin's "do", how can I narrow it down?? Because no one wants to see that many pics of my girls but me (Gregg even gets bored).I'm going to have to because I have spent the last hour fretting over how to organize this post. I do strive for some sense of purpose (and humor) in my posts, but some days, I don't have it in me and I'm as dry as a Saltine cracker.

I feel the need to tell all kinds of do-dad's that make Macy, Macy. I feel like I do that already because at this stage of the game, she gives me more material to blog about than Paige. Because she can, you know, talk.

So, I randomly chose (closed my eyes and clicked)some pics from the birthday party and the day of the her actual birth. Some other pics are blogs in themselves so don't be surprised that when you see future blogs with the girls wearing these same clothes...

I believe that Paige is the best gift we ever gave Macy!

Happy Birthday to my favorite 5 year old!!

the perfect princess tea, for princesses to be

The girls had a ball at their first princess tea party. They were given matching dresses to dress up in, had their nails painted, and makeup put on. Then came tea time ~ a book was read about manners and treats were given. Each little princess was given their own tea pot to pour their own "giggle tea". That was the highlight of the party for Macy, "I got to pour my own tea!"

Paige poured her own tea after she sweetened it with her finger. (Check out sweet birthday girl at the end of the table ~ :-)

The girls held their own in the princess parade,

and beamed with pride.

As did their mommy.

I can only pray that all of their Friday nights are this clean and fun

I sure drove in a clean "ride" to see Kenny ~ courtesy of Gregg and the girls.

Gregg sure has been going crazy with his pressure washer lately ~ cleaning the cars almost every weekend, cleaning the fence, driveway, sidewalks and bricks. And the girls ~ they are game anytime water and bubbles are around. And me, I'm the photojournalist.

at this rate, tomorrow will be senior prom

The other day, I went into Paige's room to get her from nap and I see this: "I climb", she says. I dash off to get my camera and I come back and she says, "Look me. I climb mommy."

Her crib converts into a full size bed so all we had to do was buy a mattress and box springs. The following were pics of her last night in her crib. And me having a "moment".

I've already had her bedding all bought and stashed in a closet for months now. It matches Macy's bedding exactly except Macy has the yellow/pink version. I was prepared, just not mentally prepared.

Paige is only 2 years and 3 months old. I thought I'd have a few months (at least) of her being my crib baby. But, she is spirited ~ a climber, a true monkey. And she has done really well in her big girl bed. Last night, I woke up to her standing beside my bed at 12:45. I gave her a "dink" and put her back to bed. She's big ~ not a baby anymore. The only thing baby left about her is the Pampers (and the thumb)...
Sleep tight, baby pumpkin.
