...like Paige and Roman manning Ana's video camera...and Macy doing who knows what with her hands while waiting her turn to "gradulate"...and trying to keep Paige from bolting to the stage with one arm while I took pictures with the other (she wouldn't stay put w/Gregg, who was videoing)

As Macy walked across the stage to get her diploma, the preschool director read:
This is Macy Glover.
Her birthday is May 22.
Her favorite thing to do is to play games with mommy. (Gregg shot me "a look"~yes, husband~ we play "games"~remember the "making the bed" game??)
Her favorite color is red.
Her favorite place to go is Wal-Mart. (classy...when asked later, she said because she behaves there~unlike Target)
Her favorite food is pizza.
When she grows up, she wants to be an animal doctor.

Still no tears...until this...They started playing a song by Wayne Watson called "Watercolor Ponies". And each child exited the stage taking their watercolor pony picture to their mommy. The tears came as I listened to the lyrics and watched Macy run towards me. I realized that her days of wanting to please me and run to me are numbered...

Watercolor Ponies
There are watercolor ponies
On my refrigerator door
And the shape of something
I don't really recognize
Drawn by careful little fingers
And put proudly on display
A reminder for all of us all
Of how time flies
Seems an endless mound of laundry
And a stairway laced with toys
Gives a blow by blow
Reminder of the war
That we fight for their well-being
For their greater understanding
To impart a holy reverence
For the Lord
But, baby, what will we do
When it comes back to me and you?
They look a little less
Like little girls and boys every day
Oh, the pleasure of watching
The children growing
Is mixed with a bitter cup
Of knowing the watercolor ponies
Will one day ride away
And the vision can get so narrow
As you view through your tiny little world
And little victories can go by
With no applause
But in the greater evaluation
As they fly from your nest of love
May they mount up with wings
As eagles for His cause

The prettiest rainbow pony with eight legs I've ever seen!

I have three more years until this little monkey graduates from PreK!
