prayers, they are powerful

If you don't read Angie's blog over at Bring the Rain, then you are missing out.

Her post today convicted me. I love my daughters and admit I don't really take the time to pray for them. I even have a prayer calendar that I used to have up at my desk at the old house. It didn't make the move and I hadn't printed a new one out.

Shame on me. I shouldn't need a visual to remind me to pray for my girls. But I do.

I get caught up in praying for others, that I forget to specifically pray for those that I love the most ~ my girls and my husband.

I volunteer at our church, entering in prayer requests into the church's database. Every week I am humbled by the prayer requests of others and alot of times, it is the same people diligently making prayer requests each week.

I am able to pray for each person as I type their request.

I'd like to share some that stand out:

~for a higher paying job

~Pray for my family and everyone who lives in this world.

~Pray for healing of an addictive sin.

~My son and wife will find them a home so they can be a family again.

~Keep us in your prayers. I know the Lord is working in our lives! I see it everyday in small ways, but I am excited. Keep praying for us.

~I really need a job. But instead of prayers for just a job - can you please pray I can finally get a job in which I can help and share the love of Christ. I need the Lord to guide me and provide a place.

~For deep relationships and love for my roommates (a college boy wrote this!)

~Please pray for my daughter. She's young and lost and needs your prayers to help me & my husband show her the right path. Pray that God will open her heart too.

~Pray for those missing Christ in their lives.

~My husband shoulder, it is hurt and no money to get it taken care of.

~Stress bringing anger into my life.

~14yr old son w/confidence issues

~I think my marriage needs help.

~To break mine and my boyfriend's hear for Christ. To help us grow as a couple w/a foundation through Christ.

~Pray for my marriage. I struggle w/respecting my husband b/c he is in denial about his dependence on alcohol. Some days I really don't like him much. And I do not show him respect.

~Continue to give me the strength & ability to be a good mother & father for my daughter.

~To deliver my husband from the desire to look at porn occasionally.

~That I continue to not have sex until I meet & marry my future spouse. And that my future spouse will forgive me for not waiting for him...

~Please continue to pray for my sons - that they would love the things God loves & hate the things God hates. (this mother writes a prayer card for her sons EVERY week)

~I am thankful for my apartment.

Wow. These are the people who might be sitting next to you in church. I try to remind myself of this. That behind people's smiles and oh, we're are doing great! There are real needs and hurts. I know because that has been me so many times.

This might be the person in line next to you at the Walmart. Pray for them.

This might be the person who cuts you off on the road. Pray for them.

This might be your best friend. Pray for them.

This might be your child's teacher/coach. Pray for them.

This might be a co-worker. Pray for them.

This might be your pastor. Pray for them.

And this might be your new president. Pray for him.

As I am typing this, I am praying for all of you who might read it. May God continue to bless us all and use us for His glory.

...apart from Me, you can do nothing. John 15:5
